Albert del Rosario
Albert del Rosario (born November 14, 1939 in Manila ) is a politician and acting foreign minister of the Philippines .
He studied economics in New York and was Ambassador to the USA from 2001 to 2006 . On February 24, 2011 he was appointed interim foreign minister, and on March 2, 2011, he finally took over the office.
One of the most important challenges of his office is the simmering territorial dispute with the People's Republic of China over the Spratly Islands , which he discussed at a meeting of the ASEAN foreign ministers in Bali in July 2011. A few days earlier, China had rejected the proposal to refer the conflict to the International Tribunal for the Sea .
