Alberto Cardaccio , full name Alberto Víctor Cardaccio Traversa (born August 26, 1949 in Uruguay , †  January 28, 2015 ), was a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.75 meter tall, defensively oriented midfielder Cardaccio, called "Bocha", came from the youth teams of Danubio FC from Montevideo . There he played in 1964 in the team of the Quinta División . In the following two years he commuted between the teams of the Quinta and the Cuarta División . In 1967, at the age of 17, he was appointed to the first division of the first division, which was then coached by Rafael Milans . In 1969 he rose with the Montevideans from the Primera División , but realized with the team the immediate resurgence in 1970. Until 1974 he was active for Danubio. His teammates there included Otto Sessana , Ricardo Palma , "Rafa" Perrone , Gerardo Rodríguez , Horacio Franco and Juan Ascery . From 1974 to 1975 he was a player in the Argentine racing club . There he was used 30 times (eight goals). In the 1975/76 and 1976/77 seasons he was then in Mexico with Unión de Curtidores under contract and scored 14 goals in 66 games for that club during this period. Another station followed in Mexico at Atlas Guadalajara . In the 1977/78 season he played 26 games and scored seven goals. In the following season he was used 30 times in the Primera División at Puebla FC . His goal record showed two hits. He then played three more seasons for CF Monterrey .

National team

Cardaccio already participated with the junior national team in the Junior South American Championship in 1967 . During the tournament he was not used by coach Segundo González . Cardaccio was also a member of Uruguay's senior team , for which he played 19 international matches between May 31, 1972 and June 19, 1974. However, he did not score an international goal. Cardaccio was part of the Uruguayan squad at the 1974 World Cup . There he came in the course of the competition in the group game against Bulgaria to a use as a substitute.

After the active career

After the end of his career, Cardaccio held a coaching position in the youth division at Danubio and in 1985 worked as an assistant coach under Roberto Repetto . In 2007 he worked as an assistant trainer at Sud América . In 2008 he worked as a taxi driver. He died on January 28, 2015 at the age of 65 from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

family

Cardaccio's son Víctor Alberto Cardaccio also played in the youth teams of Danubio. He was also the brother of Jorge Daniel Cardaccio . His nephew Mathías Cardacio is also a professional soccer player and was a Uruguayan international.
