Alberto Franceschini (born October 26, 1947 in Reggio nell'Emilia ) was together with Renato Curcio , Margherita Cagol and Mario Moretti a founding and leading member of the Italian left-wing extremist terrorist organization Red Brigades ( Brigate Rosse ).

The Franceschinis family was communist: his father was arrested in the 1930s for anti-fascist activities and his grandfather was among the founders of the Italian Communist Party . At a young age he became a member of the communist youth organization FGCI. He later joined the Red Brigades. Franceschini was arrested with Curcio on September 8, 1974 and was imprisoned until 1992.
