Carl Gemander

Carl Gemander (born February 16, 1836 in Plawniowitz , Tost district ( Silesia ), † September 18, 1904 in Bad Salzbrunn , buried in Breslau ) was a German administrative lawyer , most recently district administrator of the Rybnik district in Upper Silesia .

Life

His parents were Mathias Gemander (1791–1876), forester at the manor owner Count Ballestrem in Plawniowitz in the Tost-Gleiwitz district , and Magdalene Christiane nee. Kubitz (a) (1795–1869) from Rudnik near Ratibor . His brother Anton Gemander (1822–1889) was the general representative of the zinc king and business leader in Upper Silesia Karl Godulla (1781–1848), his sister Anna Euphemia Gemander (1826–1908) married the royal family in Plawniowitz in 1854. Economist and economic director Julius Heinrich Moritz Lüdke (1817-1892), who together with his brother-in-law Anton Gemander managed the Bujakow estate in the district of Beuthen, which belongs to Karl Godulla .

Carl Gemander was married to Mimi Scheffer. They are the parents of the major of the Reichswehr Karl Anton Mathias Ludwig Gemander († 1942) and the Rittmeister of the Reichswehr Wilhelm Gemander (1883–1945). Both sons were not married and died childless.

Gemander studied law and camera studies at the University of Wroclaw . During his studies he became a member of the Corps Silesia Breslau in 1858 . After completing his studies, Gemander entered the civil service with the government in Opole. In 1860 he became the deputy district administrator of the Rybnik district as a government trainee and, after initially taking up the position on a provisional basis in 1873, served as district administrator in Rybnik from 1874 until his retirement in 1901. In this position he was appointed secret councilor.

Gemander was Rittmeister of the Landwehr and owner of an estate near Czerwionka-Leszczyny , which had initially belonged to his brother Anton Gemander and which fell to him after his death.
