Alberto Jorge Mariotti (born August 23, 1935 in Argentina ) is a former Argentine football player. He played for the Chacarita Juniors , CA San Lorenzo de Almagro and the Argentinos Juniors and took part with the Argentine national soccer team at the 1962 World Cup in Chile .

Career

Club career

Alberto Mariotti started his football career in 1955 with the Chacarita Juniors , a smaller club from the Argentine capital Buenos Aires , which at that time had never won the championship of the South American country. In the Chacarita Juniors, Mariotti, who acted in the position of a defender, first started in the Primera División , after relegation from the first division in 1956 and three years in the second division, he won Primera B and the 1959 season associated return to the Primera División, in which the club was able to establish itself in the following years and only ten years after the promotion was the first and only time Argentine champion.

At this point Alberto Mariotti no longer played with the Chacarita Juniors, he left the club in 1961 and went to CA San Lorenzo de Almagro , before returning to his home club three years later and playing football there for another year before joining the Argentinos Juniors went. In total, Alberto Mariotti made 131 league appearances in the Primera División without scoring a goal. Most of these games he completed for the Chacarita Juniors, in whose jersey the ninety times in a league game (both first and second division) was on the field.

National team

In 1962 Alberto Mariotti was once used in the Argentine national soccer team for a country competition, but he did not succeed in a goal. A little later he was of Juan Carlos Lorenzo into the squad for the FIFA World Cup 1962 in neighboring Chile nominated. In the course of the tournament, Mariotti was not taken into account. His team, however, did not survive the preliminary round, they only finished third behind Hungary and England and in front of Bulgaria , which meant the end for Argentina.
