Albertus Lambertus Hattingh (born August 20, 1925 in Hofmeyr , Eastern Cape ; †) was a South African ambassador .

Life

Albertus Lambertus Hattingh was the son of Christiaan Hattingh. He married Gloria Mary Spurgeon (†) on December 13, 1952. They had three daughters and one son. He married Jopic Houze Odcndaal on September 27, 1986.

He attended Bloemfontein High School and studied at the University of the Free State . He joined the foreign service in 1947. From 1952 to 1957 he was employed in Cairo . From 1957 to 1962 he was employed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pretoria. From 1962 to 1967 he was employed as a delegation secretary at the UN headquarters . From 1967 to 1970 he was Consul General in Beirut . From 1970 to 1973 he headed the United Nations Department in the Foreign Ministry in Pretoria. From 1974 to March 17, 1978 he was envoy in Paris. From March 17, 1978 to 1981 he was ambassador to Madrid. In 1982 he headed the Paris department at the Foreign Ministry in Pretoria. In 1984 he headed the America Department at the State Department in Pretoria. With a grand cross he was accepted into the Orden de Isabel la Católica .
