Albin Eichhorn

Albin Eichhorn (born July 16, 1854 in Oelsnitz / Erzgeb. , † after 1913) was a German violinist .

Life

Eichhorn was born on July 16, 1854 in Saxony Oelsnitz in the Ore born. He received his first lessons at the age of seven from his father and shortly afterwards he had to make music in public. During his school days he learned all string instruments as well as many brass and wind instruments by himself. After leaving school and before his military service, he had various engagements as a cellist.

He served in the chapel of the Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 100 under music director Gustav Ehrlich . After finishing his service, he went to Leipzig to the music director Büchner and worked there as a concert master in the Leipzig City Theater .

In 1878 he was employed as the first violinist in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra . On October 1st, 1885, he moved to the Royal Court Theater in Dresden as a chamber musician and second violin leader , where he stayed until 1913.
