Albrecht vom Stein
Albrecht vom Stein (* around 1484; † April 27, 1522 in Bicocca , Lombardy ) was a Swiss mercenary leader during the Italian Wars .
Life
Stein came from Bern . Stein fought in the Battle of Novara . In 1522, before the Battle of Marignano, he was able to unite all Swiss troops under one command. Under the leadership of the Marshal of France Odet de Foix , Stein advanced to become the leader of all Swiss troop leaders. His field clerk was the later writer Nikolaus Manuel .
Albrecht vom Stein lost his life in the Battle of Bicocca .
