Aleš Pejchal

Aleš Pejchal (born June 30, 1952 in Prague ) is a Czech lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Pejchal studied law at Charles University in Prague, where he graduated in 1976. In 1978 he received his doctorate in Prague as a little doctor of law . He was then admitted to the bar and worked as a partner in a Czech law firm from 1980 to 2012. From 1995 to 1997 he lectured on constitutional and civil law at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague . From 2002 to 2012 he held various administrative positions at the Czech Bar Association (most recently Vice-President) and from 2003 to 2012 he was a member of the scientific advisory body for legal issues of the Czech President. From 2007 he was also a judge at the Czech Court of Arbitration for Economic and Agricultural Matters. From 2009 to 2012 Pejchal was a member of the CCBE's Human Rights Committee . In 2012, Pejchal was elected judge at the European Court of Human Rights to succeed Karel Jungwiert as representative of the Czech Republic . His term of office, which is expected to last until 2021, began on November 1, 2012.
