The Kisselwörth and Sändchen nature reserve is located in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The 73.48 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1981 , extends to the two Rhine islands of Sändchen in the north and Kisselwörth in the south, east of the local community of Nackenheim . Federal highway 9 and the Mainz – Mannheim railway line run not far to the west .
