The Fischsee nature reserve is located in the districts of Alzey-Worms and Mainz-Bingen in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The 81.62 hectare nature reserve, which was placed under nature protection by ordinance of February 12, 1987 , extends east of the local community of Guntersblum between the B 9 running to the west and the Rhine flowing to the east .

The area is a former arm of the Old Rhine with floodplains, wet meadows and bodies of water.
