The Fulder Aue – Ilmen Aue nature reserve lies in the area of Gaulsheim , Nieder-Ingelheim and Frei-Weinheim in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The 338.08 ha large nature reserve , as established by Regulation of 9 January 1995 under nature conservation has been made, the main town Bingen extends east north and northeast of Bingen district Gaulsheim. The A 60 runs along the south-eastern edge of the area and the Rhine flows along the northern edge .

The area comprises part of the Rhine lowlands in the floodplain area of ​​the Rhine with the islands of Fulder Aue and Ilmen Aue and the bodies of water in between.
