Alefbet (platform)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alefbet is a platform for Jewish religious education in German. Alefbet is a synonym for the Hebrew alphabet in the Hebrew language אָלֶף־בֵּית עִבְרִיand in Ivrit alef-bet ivri . The responsible editor is Efraim Yehoud-Desel .

history

In 2005 Efraim Yehoud-Desel launched the “Initiative from Below”. His goal was to "end the loneliness of the Jewish religion teacher". There were hardly any curricula and there were hardly any teaching materials or textbooks in German. There was also a blatant shortage of Jewish religious teachers. After the fall of the Berlin Wall , the number of Jews living in Germany rose from around 20,000 to 170,000 due to immigration from Russia and the other states of the former Soviet Union. Despite this development, there was insufficient school education. To make matters worse, in Germany only the University for Jewish Studies in Heidelberg offers a course for the training of Jewish religious teachers .

Because of this deficiency, Alefbet was brought into being. It represents a networked platform between rabbis, university professors such as Daniel Kromalnik for research and teaching and religion teachers . Since the platform is generally accessible, it can be used by any interested layperson. Alefbet offers a number of articles and representations that can be read and understood even without prior theological knowledge.
