Obeliai
Obeliai is a city in Lithuania with 1074 inhabitants (2011). It belongs to the Rajongemeinde Rokiškis and is located 15 kilometers east of Rokiškis , a few kilometers from the eastern border with Latvia. It is the center of the Obeliai District and Obeliai Sub- District . The Kriauna flows through the city and Lake Obeliai lies in the southwest .
In 1509 the Obeliai manor was first mentioned in the court records. In 1529 there was a town (Obeliai) and Wolost . In 1629 the first church was built in Obeliai and in 1868 the Catholic Church of St Anna. There is a children's home, a grammar school , a library (since 1940), a kindergarten school, a museum (since 1998) and a post office (LT-42006).
