Alejandro Abal Oliú

Alejandro Atilio Abal Oliú (born August 18, 1948 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan legal scholar .

Life

After attending the Colegio del Sagrado Corazón in Montevideo, he graduated from high school in 1966. From the following year he studied law at the Montevidean Universidad de la República . In 1971 he successfully completed this course as a Procurador . Two years later he received a doctorate in law and social sciences. He then took up a job at this university and had a teaching position there from 1977. In 1985 he was appointed provisional Professor Adjunto and, among other things, led courses in procedural law, one year later he worked as Professor Agregado until 1993 . He has been Professor Titular since 1994 . From the mid-1990s, he also had a teaching position at the Universidad Católica . From 1998 he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Universidad de la República . From 2002 to 2006 he was dean of the law faculty there. Currently (as of January 2014) he is the dean of the law faculty of the university institute of the Centro Latinoamericano de Economía Humana (CLAEH) founded in 1997 .

Together with Ronald Herbert , Juan Andrés Ramírez and Eugenio Xavier de Mello, he runs a law firm in Montevideo in the Cerrito district .

Abal Oliú is the father of six children.
