Alejandro Gertz Manero (born October 31, 1939 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican politician and first secretary (minister) of the Mexican government for internal security .

biography

He graduated from the Escuela Libre de Derecho and graduated with a doctorate in law from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

Gertz Manero was General Secretary of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia , Federal Plenipotentiary for Occupational Safety and Health and Secretary of the Government of the Distrito Federal de México for Public Security ( Secretario de Seguridad Públic de Distrito Federal ) during the tenure of Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano and Rosario Robles . Due to the statistically verifiable successes in this office in the area of ​​Mexico City, the then ruling Mexican President Vicente Fox founded the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública of the federal government in 2000 and appointed Gertz Manero as the first secretary. He held this office until 2004. Today he is the rector of the private Universidad de las Américas in Mexico City.
