Alejo de Vahía (* before 1473 probably on the Lower Rhine ; † around 1515 in the Palencia region ) was a late Gothic sculptor . Since he did not sign his works, they can only be assigned to him on the basis of his personal style

Characteristic face shapes of the Alejo de Vahía

The artist shows a style influenced by the sculptors around Limburg , characteristic of his Maria Magdalena from the main altar of the cathedral of Palencia. The figures appear in a simple geometric arrangement, and faces, beards and hairstyles also seem schematic. Over the years, a certain Hispanization of his style appears with a move towards softer forms.
