The Alexander Fredro monument is in Wroclaw on the south side of the Great Ring .

history

The monument originally stood in Lviv, today's Lviv . It was commissioned by the Lviv Literature and Art Circle and completed in 1879 by the Polish sculptor of Italian descent Leonard Marconi . It was set up for the famous Polish playwright and comedy writer Aleksander Fredro .

After the Second World War , the statue from Lviv was taken away by the resettled Polish population and first came to the Polish capital Warsaw . It was not until July 15, 1956 that the monument came to the Lower Silesian city of Breslau and was placed on the former site of the monument to the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm III. set up.
