Alev Tekinay

Alev Tekinay (born October 15, 1951 in İzmir / Turkey ) is a Turkish linguist and writer.

Life

After graduating from the German grammar school in Istanbul , she moved to Munich in 1971. Here she studied German and graduated in 1979 with a doctorate on the subject of comparative studies of narrative motifs in German poetry of the Middle Ages and the literatures of the Orient . Then she worked as a teacher. From 1983 until her retirement in 2012, Tekinay was a research assistant at the University of Augsburg in the field of German as a foreign language and Turkish . She published a number of writings in her research area, particularly Turkish textbooks.

Since 1986 she has also published fiction , primarily short stories. In 1990 Tekinay received the Adelbert von Chamisso Award for her work .
