Alex Barris
Alex Paul Barris (born September 16, 1922 in New York City , † January 15, 2004 in Toronto ) was an Emmy- nominated Canadian showmaster and screenwriter .
Career
Born in New York, Barris began his television career in 1956 as the host of The Barris Beat . Barris & Company followed in 1959 . He wrote his own scripts for both shows. He also appeared as a guest on the TV show Front Page Challenge . In the 1970s he wrote screenplays for various television productions such as A Night with Bobby Darin or The Doris Day Special , for which he was nominated for an Emmy .
In 1998 Barris was awarded the Order of Canada .
