After his birth, Gilbert was placed in a Russian orphanage in Arkhangelsk by his mother Tatiana Guskowskaja. His birth mother was placed in an orphanage as a child. His birth father Mikhail Kowkow did not know of his existence until 2013 when Alex was looking for him. His biological father's name was made on Gilbert's birth certificate and adoption papers.
