Alex Wayman

Alex Wayman (born January 11, 1921 , † September 22, 2004 ) was a Tibetologist and Indologist , and professor of Sanskrit at Columbia University .

After obtaining his BA (1948), MA (1949) and Ph. D. (1959) from the University of California, Los Angeles , he came to Columbia University in 1966, initially as a visiting associate professor of religion . In 1967 he became a professor of Sanskrit and remained in this position until his retirement in 1991.

Wayman wrote several books on Buddhist topics, such as Tantric Buddhism and Buddhist logic.
