Álex Christian von Schwedler Vásquez ( Álex von Schwedler for short ; born February 17, 1980 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean national soccer player of German origin and citizenship.
Career
Von Schwedler began his career as a youth at CF Universidad de Chile . After he was appointed to the first team as a central defender in 1999, he stayed with his youth club until 2002. With his dual citizenship, he took the right as an EU citizen to move to Italy to AS Bari . After a year with Bari , he moved to the Austrian Bundesliga for a short detour to Pasching for FC Superfund . After the year in Austria, he returned to Bari, only to move back to Austria for Red Bull Salzburg a year later . In the 2006/2007 season von Schwedler worked for Marítimo Funchal in Portugal. Until June 2009, von Schwedler is under contract with Belenenses Lisbon until his contract expired. Before that he worked for Alki Larnaka in Cyprus . From mid-October 2010, von Schwedler was in the squad of Chile's record champions CSD Colo Colo , for which he did not play an official game. After his contract expired in January 2010, he couldn't find a new club. It wasn't until six months later that the then Chilean first division club CD Everton de Viña del Mar signed him, with whom he was relegated to Primera B at the end of the year , where he is now wearing jersey number 3.
