Alexander Antonowitsch Maschkewitsch , also Alexander Mashkevich and Machkevitch ( Russian Александр Антонович Машкевич ; * 1954 in Frunze , Soviet Union ) is an Israeli entrepreneur who lives in Almaty , Kazakhstan , and works in industrial and metal industries.

Life

Together with Patokh Chodiev and Alijan Ibragimow, he founded the mining company Eurasian Natural Resources . At the age of 26 he already held a professorship in literature, but later turned away from academic life in the course of perestroika and from then on devoted himself to his business interests and Jewish affairs, in which he traveled around the world and as a result also acquired Israeli citizenship.

With private assets of USD 3.3 billion (2010), he is one of the richest Israelis. He is a leading member of the World Jewish Congress .

Alexander Maschkewitsch is married and has two children.
