Alexander Böhm (politician)

Alexander Böhm (born November 15, 1942 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ), works council and works electrician at Tauernkraftwerke AG. From 1989 to 1998 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

education and profession

Böhm attended elementary school in Vienna between 1948 and 1952 and then graduated from Realgymnasium in Vienna from 1952 to 1956 . He began an apprenticeship as an electrician in 1956 and completed it in 1960. After completing his apprenticeship, he did military service between 1961 and 1962 and then worked as a fitter at Elin from 1962 to 1968 . He then worked as a company electrician at Tauernkraftwerke AG in Kaprun from 1968 to 1998 and was also active there as a works council from 1978 to 1989, where he attended the social academy of the Vienna Chamber of Labor in Mödling between 1981 and 1982 . As a member of the works council of Tauernkraftwerke AG, he held the function of deputy works council chairman from 1989 to 1991 and was then chairman of the works council of Tauernkraftwerke AG from 1991 to 1998. From 1978 to 1998 he was also a member of the supervisory board of Tauernkraftwerke AG as an employee representative. From 1991 to 1998 Böhm acted as the works committee chairman of the management committee of the Verbund group and from 1998 to 2003 he was president of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Salzburg.

Politics and functions

Between 1988 and 1991 Böhm was active within the party as local party chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Kaprun. He was also active in local politics between 1975 and 1996 as a member of the Kaprun municipal council and represented the Social Democratic Party between May 3, 1989 and December 8, 1998 in the Salzburg state parliament. He was also active in trade unions, where he was chairman of the Salzburg state executive of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions in Pinzgau between 1990 and 1998. Böhm was also chairman of the parliamentary group of socialist trade unionists in Pinzgau from 1994 to 1998, and in 2007 he was elected district chairman of the ÖGB pensioners in Pinzgau. From 2000 to 2006 he was Vice President of the ASKÖ Salzburg and in 2005 became Vice President of the Red Cross Salzburg.
