Alexander Bob

Alexander Bob (born January 30, 1959 in Weinheim ) is a German publishing manager, entrepreneur and author.

Life

After studying medicine, Alexander Bob worked as a doctor from 1986 to 1990. He is a specialist in general medicine. During his medical studies he was the initiator and editor of textbooks with examination questions for medical students (so-called "black series"). While working as a clinician, he initiated the dual textbook series, which appeared from 1989 and played a dominant role in the medical textbook market for around 20 years.

In 1991, Bob joined the management of Thieme Verlag in Stuttgart as head of program planning, where he was also responsible for digital media, innovations and training publishing. On July 1, 1998, he moved to the Bibliographisches Institut & FA Brockhaus (BIFAB) and took over there Editorial department, proofreading, electronic media, typesetting and image production. From 2002 to 2007 he was CEO of BIFAB AG.

Together with his brother Konstantin Bob, he is the founder of invendo medical GmbH, Weinheim, which, as a medical technology development company, aims to develop sterile single-use endoscopes for hygienically safe endoscopy. In October 2017 the company was sold to the Danish medtech company Ambu / AS.

From October 1, 2007, Alexander Bob was managing director of  Cornelsen Verlagsholding , and later, after its name was changed to Franz Cornelsen Bildungsholding, also chairman of the management board. He left the company at the end of 2014. In October 2015 he founded BlueOcean Perspectives Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG in Berlin, which aims to develop digital business models and innovative projects in the areas of media, education and health.
