Alexander Igorevich Kofman ( Russian Александр Игоревич Кофман , Ukrainian Олександр Ігорович Кофман ( Olexander Ihorowytsch Kofman ); * the 30th August 1977 in Makeyevka , Donetsk Oblast , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian politician. He is one of the leaders of the pro-Russian movement in eastern Ukraine and was Foreign Minister of the internationally unrecognized Donetsk People's Republic from November 12, 2014 to February 23, 2016 .

Life

Kofman was born in 1977 in Makeyevka, the son of a civil engineer and a speech therapist. In 1999 he completed his studies in Donetsk as a civil engineer. In 2002 he founded his own construction company "Albion", which he managed until 2006. From 2006 to 2013 he worked at the bank "Nadra" and then in a company called "Rusch".

Since 2014

In 2014 he was elected a member of the parliament of the Federal State of New Russia . In the elections in the People's Republic of Donetsk on November 2, 2014, the non-party Kofman received 11.5% of the vote and was second behind the Prime Minister, Alexander Sakharchenko (78.9% of the vote). After the elections, Kofman was appointed Foreign Minister in the government of the Donzek People's Republic. On February 23, 2016, he was replaced in this role by Natalia Nikonorova.

Kofman is married and has a son (* 1993) and a daughter (* 2012).
