Alexander Kips

Alexander Kips (born July 22, 1858 in Berlin , † May 6, 1910 in Berlin) was a German painter and especially porcelain painter. From 1886 to 1908 he was artistic director of the Königliche Porzellanmanufaktur Berlin . His brother was the painter Erich Kips .

Life

After attending the educational establishment of the Kunstgewerbemuseum , Kips was trained by the history painter Ernst Johan Schaller in Berlin. As the artistic director of the royal porcelain factory in Berlin, Kips designed landscapes and sketches from 1886 to 1908. In the years 1883 to 1885 Kips undertook study trips to Greece, Asia Minor and Italy, which led him to Olevano , among others . In 1886 he was appointed artistic director of the Berlin porcelain manufactory, which he helped to revitalize with porcelain tile painting and had a shaping influence on the manufactory. In 1891, Kips was awarded the title of professor. In 1893 he took part in the World's Fair in Chicago .
