Alexander McCall Smith

Alexander McCall Smith (born August 24, 1948 in Bulawayo ) is a British writer and lawyer of Rhodesian origin. His training began in Zimbabwe and ended in Scotland . He has been appointed Professor of Law at the University of Edinburgh . In this role he returned to Botswana , where he helped establish a new university branch. In 2006 McCall Smith was named " Alumnus of the Year" by the University of Edinburgh . Today he lives in Edinburgh .

A crocodile for Mma Ramotswe , English “ The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency " (1999), was chosen by" The Times Literary Supplement "as the book of the year and recommended by the" Booker Prize Committee ". Alexander McCall Smith was named Author of the Year in the UK in 2003 . His novels appear in 42 countries.
