Alexander Nikolajewitsch Gunjaschew ( Russian Александр Николаевич Гуняшев ; born  December 22, 1959 in Osjorsk ) is a former Soviet weightlifter .

Career

Gunjaschew competed during his international career mainly in the super heavyweight over 110 kg body weight. During his playing days he set a total of six world records (four in snatch and two in combat).

His first successful appearance at a senior championship took place in 1985 at the European Championships in Katowice . With 417.5 kg (192.5 kg tearing / 225.0 kg pushing) in a duel, he won gold in front of his compatriot Leonid Taranenko and Senno Salzwedel . At the world championships in Södertälje in the same year he was able to achieve second place in all three disciplines with 195.0 kg in snatch, 237.5 kg in jerk and 432.5 kg.

Internationally he could only show successes again in 1991 when he took bronze behind Taranenko and Manfred Nerlinger with 415.0 kg (190.0 kg tearing / 225.0 kg pushing) . This was also the last important international championship in which he reached a podium.

Top performances

  • Snatch: 212.5 kg at the Soviet championship in Kharkiv in 1988 in the 110 kg class.
  • Bump: 255.0 kg at the Cup of the USSR in Leningrad 1983 in the class over 110 kg.
  • Duel: 465.0 kg at the European Championship in Reims 1984 in the 110 kg class.
