Political career

In the general election in February 1974 , SNP politician Winnie Ewing prevailed in the constituency of Moray and Nairn against the conservative Gordon Campbell , who had represented the constituency in the British House of Commons since 1959 . In the following elections in October 1974 , Pollock stood as successor to Campbell for the Conservatives for the first time to elections at the national level. He lost to Ewing with a difference of only 367 votes. Although Pollock was only able to slightly increase his share of the vote in the 1979 general election , he narrowly prevailed against Ewing and subsequently moved into the British lower house for the first time.

At the end of the term, Pollock's constituency of Moray and Nairn was dissolved. For the following general election in 1983 , Pollock applied for the mandate of the newly created constituency of Moray , in which large parts of the previous constituency had been absorbed. Pollock won the vote just ahead of the SNP candidate Hamish Watt . After losing votes, he left the House of Commons in the 1987 general election . The mandate went to the SNP politician Margaret Ewing , daughter-in-law of Winnie Ewing. In Parliament there are 350 contributions from Pollock.
