Alexander Sergeyevich Chodakowski ( Russian Александр Сергеевич Ходаковский ; Ukrainian Олександр Сергійович Ходаковський Oleksandr Serhijowytsch Chodakowskyj * 18th December 1972 in Donetsk , Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a political and military leader of the internationally unrecognized Donetsk People's Republic (VD). He was Minister for State Security and Secretary of the VR Security Council.

biography

Between 1990 and 1992 Chodakowski did his military service in the 331st Paratrooper Regiment of the Airborne Division in Tulsk, Russia .

Khodakovsky served for a long time as a department head in the special unit "Alfa" of the Slushba bespeky Ukrakiny (SBU) in Donetsk Oblast . With the outbreak of war in Ukraine in February 2014 , Khodakovsky joined the pro-Russian separatists and became the leader of the military unit “ Patriotic Forces from Donbass ”.

From November 2014 to March 2015, Khodakovsky held the post of Minister for State Security and Secretary of the VR Security Council. In 2015 he was elected to the People's Council of the VR of the first convocation as a member of the citizens' movement “Donetsk People's Republic”. At the end of 2015, Chodakowski resigned his parliamentary mandate and switched to the opposition.

The name of Chodakowski is mentioned in connection with the downing of the passenger plane MH 17 by Malaysia Airlines . According to Reuters news agency , Chodakovsky is said to have confirmed in an interview that the Buk missile system that was used to shoot down the machine was transported from Russia to the area of Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian rebels and returned to Russia after the deployment. After the interview was published, Chodakowski denied his statements.
