Alexander Walentinowitsch Golowko ( Russian Александр Валентинович Головко ; born January 29, 1964 in Dnipropetrovsk , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian lieutenant general and since 2012 commander of the space forces .

Life

Golovko graduated from the NI Krylov Missile Forces College of Officers in Kharkov in 1986 . From 1986 to 1998 he served as a group engineer, missile commander, company commander and department head at the main test center for space assets, GS Titov . In 1996 he successfully graduated from the FE Dzerzhinsky Military Academy . From 1998 to 2001 he worked as chief of a special command measurement complex at the main test center for space assets. After attending the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation , he served as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Space Forces from 2003 to 2004. From 2004 to 2007 Golovko served as Chief of Staff and First Deputy Chief, and from 2007 to 2001 as Chief of the Main Test Center for Space Resources. From June 2011 to December 2012 he was head of the Plesetsk Cosmodrome of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. On December 24, 2012, Major General Golovko became commander of the space forces by decree of the President. After the amalgamation of the Air Force and Space Forces on August 1, 2015, he was appointed Deputy Commander in Chief of the newly formed Air and Space Forces.
