The Catholic Church of St. Alexander (Polish. Kościół św. Aleksandra ) in Warsaw is a Catholic parish church on the Three Crosses Square , the central part of the Warsaw Royal Route between the New World and Ujazdowski avenues .

history

The church was built between 1818 and 1826 in the classicism style on the initiative of Tsar Alexander I by Chrystian Piotr Aigner . The construction was largely financed by Józef Zajączek and a public collection. In the second half of the 19th century, the church was rebuilt by Józef Pius Dziekoński in the neo-renaissance style with neo-Gothic features. The church was initially bombed by the Wehrmacht during the Warsaw Uprising , but after the war it was rebuilt in the original style by Aigner.

Geographical location

The church is located on the Warsaw Royal Route in the middle of the Three Crosses Square .
