Alexandra Holtsch (born April 13, 1960 in Wiesbaden ) is a German composer, DJ and director. She has lived and worked in Berlin since 1986.

Act

In the management team of the independent group “Theater Artaud” she developed theater projects and performances. She has been composing theater music since 1992 and has played some live at the theaters in Weimar, Konstanz, Freiburg, Basel, Linz, Saarbrücken, Zurich and Berlin. Under the name "DJ Spin-O" she became resident DJ in the Drum'n'Bass Club WTF Berlin in 1994 and played in various well-known European clubs. Her distinctive style of mixing contemporary electronic music with works from all eras brought her to radio FM4 ( Vienna ) and radio FG ( Paris ), among others . In 2006 she worked with the Munich Academy Theater and the Munich University of Music and Theater to develop the musical concept and music for the scratch opera "Barcode" for the 10th Munich Biennale - International Festival for New Music Theater . In 2010 an arrangement with new compositions by Beggar's Opera was created for the opening of the Junge Oper at the Lower Saxony State Theater in Hanover . In 2013 the commissioned composition "Der Ring: Next Generation" by Richard Wagner for electronic music and orchestra was performed at the Deutsche Oper Berlin .

In recent years, Alexandra Holtsch has concentrated on productions in which she took over the composition and direction. Among other things, she staged “Mustafa Woyzeck - An intercultural theater project” based on Georg Büchner in a continuation by Tim Staffel in Berlin in 2007; 2009 “What do you think?”, A play development with young people and actors at the MoKS / Theater Bremen.

She staged her versions of “Zarathustra” based on Friedrich Nietzsche , Knut Hamsun's “Hunger” and “Fatzer's great downfall show” based on Bertolt Brecht for Sparte4 ( Saarland State Theater ).

She directed the project "Give - A - Way" in the joinery of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and took over the musical direction. The piece about giving and sharing was developed over several months with the students and teachers of the Hector Peterson School, the drummers and a singer from the DOB and musicians and actors from Berlin.

In the 2016/17 season she took over the artistic direction of the series “From Ambush” in the carpentry of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
