Alexandre-M. Clerk
Alexandre-Marie Clerk (born August 31, 1861 in Montreal ; † July 27, 1932 there ) was a Canadian composer and conductor.
In 1896, Clerk followed his teacher Romain-Octave Pelletier as conductor at the Église du Gesù . Under his direction, the Church Choir has performed the oratorio Le Paradis perdu by Théodore Dubois , La Vierge and Marie-Magdeleine by Jules Massenet and The Sun-Worshippers by Arthur Goring Thomas .
In 1903 he followed Charles Labelle at the Church of Saint-Louis-de-France , where he conducted oratorios and concert operas. He composed four masses and other church music works.
His great-nephew André Clerk was the producer of music programs for the CBC .
