Alexandre Schmidt

Alexandre Schmidt (born May 19, 1970 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ) and former member of the municipal council (executive) of the city of Bern .

Life

The bilingual Alexandre Schmidt grew up in Baselland . In 1994 he graduated with a licentiate from the Geneva University Institute for International Studies (HEI), and in 1997 with a Master’s degree from the University Institute for Public Administration (Ideap) in Lausanne . Alexandre Schmidt is married and has two sons. He lives in Bern.

Professional background

From 1995 to 2002 Alexandre Schmidt worked in the parliamentary services for the Federal Assembly . From 2002 to 2003 he worked as a personal assistant to Federal Councilor Kaspar Villiger and from 2004 to 2009 in the same position at Federal Councilor Hans-Rudolf Merz . From 2008 to 2012 he was Director of the Federal Alcohol Administration . Schmidt has been working for the arms company Ruag since 2017 , where he is responsible for relations with the federal government.

politics

From 1992 to 2002 Alexandre Schmidt was a member of the Binningen Residents' Council and from 2010 to 2012 a member of the Bern city parliament. As a member of the five-person city government ( municipal council ), Alexandre Schmidt was in charge of finance, human resources and IT from 2013 to 2016 , where he was responsible, among other things, for finances, taxes and real estate in the city of Bern.
