Alexandros II of Alexandria
Alexander II of Alexandria ( Coptic : AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟC; * in Bana, Egypt ; † February 14, 729 in Egypt) was the 43rd Coptic Pope . He was Pope from 704 to February 14, 729 during a time of church persecution.
Life
He entered the monastery west of Alexandria as a monk . After the death of Simeon of Alexandria, the Pope's chair was vacant for four years. Because of his reputation, he was elected unanimously and was taken to Alexandria for consecration.
Adoration
Alexander is considered a saint in the Coptic Church and his feast day is February 1st in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church .
