Live and act

Movilă was the second son of Ieremia Movilă and came to the throne with Polish help. His mother Elisabeta, who had already done the same with her son Constantin Movilă, was in charge . The ruling Prince Ștefan IX. Tomşa then fled to Wallachia to return with armed help from the local prince Radu Mihnea . Although he could not recapture the throne, the capital Iași burned down.

After relations between the Turks and Poles deteriorated noticeably, the Ottoman leadership decided together with the Tatars to bring Radu Mihnea to the throne in Iași. After the defeat at Drăcșani on August 3, 1616, the Ottomans seized Alexandru and his mother Elisabeta and Alexandru's brother Bogdan and brought them to Constantinople . Although she was a devout Christian, Elisabeta and her sons were forced to convert to Islam in order to save their lives and the well-being of their children. Then she ended up in the harem of an Aga , where she died after 1620. Before leaving her country, Elisabeta cut off her hair and sent it to the Sucevița monastery , which had been rebuilt by her husband. Elisabeta's father was the boyar Gheorghe Izlozeanu.
