Alexei Grigoryevich Kopnin

Alexei Grigoryevich Kopnin ( Russian Алексей Григорьевич Копнин ; born December 17, 1918 in Rybinsk ; † June 17, 1991 in Chelyabinsk ) was a Soviet chess composer .

Chess composition

Since 1946 Kopnin published more than 300 compositions, 130 of which were studies . 240 of his works received awards, including 50 first prizes. Between 1948 and 1985 he took part in various USSR individual championships and came third twice, in 1948 in the two-man division and in 1973 in the three-man division.

In 1959 Kopnin was appointed International Chess Composition Referee . In 1975 he was awarded the title of International Master of Chess Composition .
