The Alexejew I-215 ( Russian Алексеев И-215 ) was a Soviet experimental fighter aircraft . Only prototypes of this type of aircraft were built.

development

The first flight took place at the end of 1947. The shape and dimensions of this machine largely corresponded to the Alexejew I-211 . The main difference was the engines used, and the I-215 also had a radar in the bow of the fuselage. After testing the first prototype, another machine was created with a revised tandem landing gear ( I-215D ), with which the landing gear of the bomber 150 was to be tested, as well as a project with the planned large-caliber cannon armament ( I-216 ). However, due to the priority given to the MiG-15, none of these versions went into series production, although production was in preparation in early 1948.
