In 1983 and 1984 he won the silver medal at the Mathematics Olympiad. Bonnet studied from 1985 at the École polytechnique and the École des Mines . He received his doctorate in 1992 from the University of Paris VI ( Sur quelques probèmes d'analysis non linéaire avec applications à la combustion ) with Henri Berestycki .
