Alfred Bogen (born June 18, 1885 in Eckmannsdorf ; † March 14, 1944 in Magdeburg ) was a German teacher, school councilor, conservationist and museum director who headed the Museum of Natural History and Prehistory in Magdeburg from 1931 until his death.

Life

After attending the Royal Teachers' College in Elsterwerda , Alfred Bogen became a teacher in Gröben in 1905, moved to Keutschen in 1909 and to Berlin in 1911, where he carried out experiments on free intellectual and technical teaching by means of cell work. He became chairman of the working group for practical pedagogy and published several times with the purpose of pushing through new reform pedagogical endeavors, known at the time as the work school . In 1923 Bogen became a provisional school councilor in Stendal and in the following year he moved to Magdeburg, the capital of the Prussian province of Saxony , where he assumed the office of magistrate school council.

In 1931 he quit school and became director of the Magdeburg Museum of Natural History and Prehistory . In 1932 he was appointed provincial commissioner of the provincial committee for the preservation of natural monuments and the provincial agency for nature conservation of the province of Saxony. At the same time, Alfred Bogen was commissioner for the preservation of natural monuments in the city district of Magdeburg and district nature conservation officer for the administrative district of Magdeburg . He resigned from this office in 1938. At least at the end of the 1930s, he lived in Magdeburg-Wilhelmstadt at Große Diesdorfer Straße 21, 22 .
