Life

From 1930 Detering studied theology and folklore at the University of Halle , where he joined the NSDAP , the SA and the National Socialist German Student Union (NSDStB) in the same year . In the SA he was senior squad leader in the staff of Standarte 36. In 1933/34 he became university group leader of the NSDStB and leader of the student body at the Martin Luther University in Halle and head of the student union . During his tenure, he triggered a conflict between the NSDStB and the local senior citizens' convention through his attacks on what he described as “reactionary” professors , which caused a sensation beyond the University of Halle. From 1934/35 and 1938 to 1943 he was the Gaustudentenführer for the Reichsgau Halle-Merseburg . He received his doctorate in Halle in 1938 and was again head of the student body at the university there. In 1941 he took over the management of the "Political Education" office in the Reich student leadership .

During the Second World War Detering served as a sergeant in the Wehrmacht . Since October 21, 1943, he was missing at Novo Losowatka. Its whereabouts are unknown.
