Alfred Gockel (* 1952 in Lüdinghausen , Westphalia) is a German artist. He deals with painting, printing technology and sculpture. In 2006 he designed the American Committee's official poster for the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. He became known for art in public space through the sculpture Yellow Angel at the Kamener Kreuz , the intersection of the A1 and A2 .

Career

Gockel studied from 1973 to 1977 at the Münster University of Applied Sciences in the field of design. He then received teaching assignments for printmaking techniques. As an artist in the USA, he became known with his own works in 1985 by participating in the Art Expo New York . In 1999 he opened the graphic arts studio with a screen printing studio and an etching workshop. In 2008 he founded the Quadriga artist group specializing in classic printmaking techniques such as woodcut, lithography and linoleum.

In addition to painting and printmaking, Gockel seeks three-dimensional expression, using steel, acrylic, bronze, sandstone and marble as a sculptor. He creates the link to art in public space with the yellow angel sculpture at the Kamener Kreuz and with a sculpture at the Hansa Business Park at the A 1 junction Münster-Hiltrup / Amelsbüren.
