Alfred Knüsel

Alfred Knüsel (born September 23, 1941 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss composer of contemporary classical music.

Life

Knüsel was born in Lucerne and grew up there. He studied composition with Peter Benary in Lucerne, Max Kuhn in Zurich, then with Nadia Boulanger in Paris. He completed his cello studies , which he completed with a concert diploma, with Emmy Munzinger in Lucerne, Raffaele Altwegg in Zurich and Paul Tortelier in Paris; he also studied conducting.

Since 1973 he has been teaching at the University of Music in Basel. In 1980 he received the recognition award of the City of Lucerne's Art and Culture Prize . In 1995 he received the sponsorship award from the Basel-Land cultural festival.

Alfred Knüsel's works are performed at concerts of the Swiss Tonkünstlerfest and the International Society for New Music as well as at festivals in Switzerland and abroad. Jürg Wyttenbach , Räto Tschupp , Jürg Henneberger and others conducted his works and had them recorded on the radio ( DRS 2 ). CD-Werke documentation was published on the Classic 2000 label.
