Mills belonged to the BFC Preussen as a goalkeeper , for whom he first played point games in the Association of Berliner Ballspielvereine and completed the 1909/10 season as a Berlin champion. In the following season the championship went to the BTuFC Viktoria 89 , who won it with one point ahead of his club.

He then played his last season in the Association of Brandenburg Ball Game Clubs , which was founded on April 29, 1911 through the merger of the Association of Berliner Ballspielvereine (also VBB), Märkischer Fußball-Bund (MFB) and Verband Berliner Athletik-Vereine (VBAV) and now was the umbrella organization for all football clubs from Berlin and the Province of Brandenburg until 1933. In the championship, which was held in two groups, he and his team emerged victorious from Group B and also won the two-legged final against the winner of Group A, BTuFC Viktoria 89, each with 2: 1.

Because of his two regional championships, he was represented with his team in two finals for the German championship . He made his debut on April 17, 1910 in the 1: 4 quarter-final defeat against Holstein Kiel , his last final game on May 5, 1912 again in the quarter-finals and again against Holstein Kiel, was only achieved through the two late goals by Hugo Fick and David Binder lost 1: 2 in the 84th and 87th minutes.

Selection team

As a player in the selection team of the Association of Berlin Ball Game Clubs, he took part in the first ever competition for the Crown Prince's Cup, the DFB's first German cup competition, which was held by the regional associations that existed at the time. After his selection team managed to prevail in qualifying against the selection team of the Märkischer Fußball-Bund , they met the selection team of the North German Football Association on February 21, 1909 on the field of SC Victoria Hamburg , which was defeated 4-1. The final, which was then reached on April 18, 1909 on Viktoria-Platz in Mariendorf near Berlin against the team of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs , ended in a 3-1 defeat.
