Alfred Orel
Alfred Orel (born July 3, 1889 in Vienna , † April 11, 1967 in Vienna ) was an Austrian musicologist .
Life
Alfred Orel first studied law, where he did his doctorate, and worked in the concept department of the Ministry of Finance. His second degree was musicology, where he completed his habilitation in 1922 . From 1918 to 1940 he was head of the music collection of the Vienna City Library . From 1940 to 1945 Orel was director of the Institute for Vienna Music Research, which he founded. Orel was involved in the edition of the DTÖ .
His grave is in the Döblinger Friedhof (38-7-6) in Vienna.
