Alfred Schäfer (pedagogue)

Alfred Schäfer (* 1951 in Düren ) is a German pedagogue and was professor for systematic educational science at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg from 1993 to 2017 .

Life

After completing his doctorate at the University of Education in Cologne in 1977 on the subject of the societal form determination of school socialization (Cologne 1978), Alfred Schäfer initially worked as an educational advisor in a youth association. During this activity, he completed his habilitation in 1988 at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg on the subject of criticism of educational reality designs. Possibilities and limits of educational rationality claims (Weinheim 1989). Since 1993 Schäfer has held a full professorship for systematic educational science at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
