Alfred Walther

Alfred Walther (born September 17, 1886 in Kilchberg ; † December 15, 1955 in Bern ) was a Swiss professor for business administration at the University of Bern .

Life

Walther received his degree in civil engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. He then worked as an engineer in the practice. At the same time, however, he also dealt with scientific problems and published in 1923 in his essay Basics of Industrial Cost Theory . His habilitation took place in 1927 as a private lecturer at the TH Zurich. In 1939 he was offered a professorship in business administration at the University of Bern as the successor to the late Hans Töndury . There he was first with a teaching position , from 1940 as an associate professor and from 1944 as a full professor.

Act

Walther was one of the founders and editors of the magazine The Enterprise. Journal for business administration and organization . For his efforts in business administration, he received in 1953 from the Technical University of Darmstadt , the honorary doctorate awarded.
